Red Tape Reduction: BILD Alberta Update

Scott Fash is Senior Director of Policy & Research for BILD Alberta. BILD is the amalgamation of Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) and Urban Development Institute (UDI) which was completed about 2 years ago. They focus on building and development issues at the Provincial and Federal levels.

The Provincial government is focusing on Red Tape Reduction, and BILD Alberta has developed a list of key issues that they are requesting the Province to consider to reduce red tape for our industry. Some of the issues identified include:

• Amending mortgage rules in Alberta;
• Delaying and monitoring impacts of Energy Step Codes and Net Zero Ready building requirements;
• Joint worksite Health & Safety Committees;
• STANDATA's;
• Permit Timelines and Approvals;
• Timely approvals from Ministry of Transportation and other Provincial Ministries;
• Offsite and Provincial Transportation Levies
• And more!

BILD is also championing a "Housing and Development Innovations Act: Homes for All Albertans".
