Christmas Virtual Lunch and Fundraiser; Dec 10, 2020

Event Sponsors

Exshaw Mountain Gateway Inc.
Cambridge Elevator
Benjamin Moore - Canmore Paint & Interiors Ltd

BOWDA's first ever Virtual Christmas Lunch and Fundraiser will be on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Although we are unable to meet in person we encourage you to buy lunch from your favourite local restaurant, pour yourself a beverage of your choice, and sign in for the virtual lunch.

We will start with updates on the Christmas Tie from Jason Bateman of BURNCO and on the Christmas Purse (new last year!) from Dustin Taylor, Cascade Mechanical and Terry Burch of Spring Creek Mountain Village.

All funds raised from the Christmas Tie, Christmas Purse and your pledges will go to Bow Valley Christmas Spirit Campaign to support families and individuals from Canmore to Morley who need assistance during the Christmas season. The funds will be used to purchase grocery cards, food and food hampers, toys and other gifts. In addition to delivering the Christmas hampers, Bow Valley Christmas Spirit Program also supports seniors in the Bow Valley. The organization also supports health food and food security programs all year round in the Bow Valley. So your donations will be used this Christmas and throughout 2021...a very good investment!

Please consider making a pledge to donate to Bow Valley Christmas Spirit Campaign! You can also make your donation now. In the message box, include that this donation is part of BOWDA Christmas Lunch, and let us know of your donation so that we can keep track of how much BOWDA members have donated!

After the fundraising, we will hear from Adam and Jan Waterous of Liricon Capital who will discuss "Banff National Park Net Zero 2035" which is a grassroots, bottom-up initiative to create sustainable vehicle and visitor transit systems and low carbon energy and waste solutions to transform Banff National Park into North America's first net zero emissions community by 2035. The initiative builds upon and includes Liricon's efforts to manage the impact of vehicles on Banff National Park by returning the passenger rail service between the Calgary Airport to Banff, creating intercept parking, aerial transit from the Banff train station to Norquay, shuttle only service to points of interest around the Park; and pedestrianization of Banff Ave.

These initiatives can reduce GHGs while improving the visitor experience and are based on models proven by the world leaders in mountain towns and National Park vehicle management - Zion National Park and Zermatt Switzerland.
