Bow Valley Builders and Developers Association Luncheon, Thursday Feb 14, 2019
Topic: Human - Wildlife Co-Existence
Presented by: Brett Boukall, Alberta Environment & Parks.
The Bow Valley is an increasingly desirable destination for people to visit, live and recreate. This is in part due to its proximity to Calgary, as well as its reputation as a world class tourist destination. Both people and wildlife concentrate their movements along the valley bottoms, which can lead to human-wildlife occurrences, displacement of wildlife from important habitat, and human-caused mortality.
Find out what has been done in the past 20+ years, and what mitigations and plans are being put in place in 2019 and the decades to come to reduce human-wildlife occurences.
Brett Boukall is a Senior Wildlife Biologist responsible for wildlife and their habitats in the Bow District, and was a member of the Human-Wildlife Co-Existence Technical Committee that was responsible for creating the report.
